To Watch A Man Eat by Full Frontal Theatre.

Sadie Pearson’s play To Watch a Man Eat is a raw, honest and thought-provoking play about the desire to want more power, control, wealth and overall status in the world one creates for themselves and the destruction that can follow when these expectations aren’t achieved.

Micky (George Usher) begins the performance by explaining the story of serial monogamist Jemima. Whose life appears to have it all mapped out without too much effort until life dramatically changes and she’s left alone in a world she no longer understands!

The narrator is trustworthy and open. Micky explains about his job as a firefighter a clever device used in the play as someone who saves lives and helps protect people can be completely trusted, unlike the other two characters.

Andrew (George Lorimer) has it all a good job in the City working in his Father’s company with the looming prospect of taking over when his father retires. He is married to Melissa (Lily Walker) who planned her life around creating everything to be comfortable at home and easy for Andrew so he cannot live without her.

Melissa develops into a grotesque human being who will control and manipulate Andrew with everything in her power including her body. She wants the title for Andrew within his father’s company regardless of how her husband feels and when she can no longer fully control him, she takes complete charge!

Sadie Pearson and Hen Ryan direct a dark uncomfortable piece of Theatre that twists and turns keeping the audience engaged throughout the play. This is combined with a trio of excellent cast actors who bring the characters to life warts and all. I look forward to seeing what Pearson will write next.
