Who doesn’t love a good “who dunnit” murder mystery story? Based on the original board game invented during the Second World War by Anthony Pratt. Cluedo 2 brings an array of familiar characters to life from Miss Scarlet (Ellie Leach), Colonel Mustard (Jason Durr) and Mrs White (Dawn Buckland).

New Wimbledon Theatre, Woking is currently hosting the touring production of Cluedo 2. The large backdrop at the back of the stage depicts a Cluedo board layout of the rooms familiar to anyone who has played the board game before.

Gathered together in the 17-bedroomed house for the filming of a new commercial musician and owner of the house Mr Rick Black (Liam Horrigan) is brutally murdered in his music studio. Important and valuable recording tapes are missing and all eyes are on, well all of those in the house. Each person has a motive or vengeance that could link them to the murder.

Movement Director Anna Healey created several scenes throughout the performance where the characters are meant to be running down the large stately home corridors past a selection of paintings which you’d expect to see in an house of its age and heritage. The Illusion is clever and the audience get a sense of how big this house is meant to be.

Mark Bell directs a funny and farcical murderous night at the Theatre. Where Mrs White has a few secrets tucked away in the kitchen cupboards. From the room changes to the action taking place in the conservatory. All the action rolls along without a dice in sight.

Without giving too much away there are a lot of similarities to the famous Agatha Christie murder mystery novel Then There Were None delivered with a large helping of comedy and a host of familiar Cluedo artefactss used to commit the crimes including the rope, candlestick and spanner/wrench.
