The touring production of  Pretty Woman The Musical contains all the charm of the original film which starred Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. An ill-matched couple on the surface who in the space of six days turn each other’s lives around and change the way that they view themselves.

Handsome billionaire Edward Lewis (Oliver Savile) falls in love with a Hollywood Boulevard prostitute called Vivian Ward (Sydnie Hocknell). The couple meet and agree on a business deal which benefits the pair. Edward has a female companion to be seen with while there on business and Vivian has the answer to the unpaid rent.

Never judge someone on first impressions. Which the high-end boutique shop assistants do and realise their mistake when it’s too late and Vivian returns laden with shopping bags to let them know in no uncertain terms of their ignorance and snobbery.

Ore Oduba’s performance as the Beverley Wiltshire Hotel manager and street Happy Man gives an outstanding performance throughout the musical. His charismatic disposition allows the audience to warm to him immediately.

The Musical is true to the original storyline and on the whole, makes the transition from film to stage very well. Tonight’s press night saw understudy Sydnie Hocknell take to the stage in the lead role of Vivian and she certainly gave a fantastic performance throughout the musical and deserves a special mention.

Lila Falce-Bass’s professional stage debut saw her getting a rapturous applause when she gave an amazing Operatic performance. One of those moments when the hair stands up on the back of your neck and goosebumps appear.

Music and Lyrics were created by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance and the musical is based on the book by Garry Marshall and J.F.Lawton. A must-see for all fans of the original film Pretty Woman.
