Bronco Billy drives his show bus “Buster” into Charing Cross Theatre with his latest show. Antoinette Lily (Emily Benjamin) joins the acts as she attempts to stay alive for thirty days, the clause in her Father’s will that would allow her stepmother Constance Lily (Victoria Hamilton-Barritt) to inherite everything should Antoinette die in the first thirty days after her Father’s death.

Tarinn Callender takes on the role of the sharp-shooting Bronco Billy, whose aim is impeccable. Whose drive to succeed pushes him towards Hollywood where they hope to win a contest and find large scale fame across America and beyond.

Costume designer Sarah Mercade created an excellent range of costumes. The cowgirl outfits worn by Antoinette Lily along with the rest of the cast brought a sense of “rodeo” style to the stage.

The musical score has a range of catchy songs although at times some appear to be repeated just containing different lyrics. However, Doc Blue played by Karen Mavundukure gives a couple of incredible solo performances.

The storyline flows easily throughout the performance and there’s nothing particularly remarkable that takes place. It is an easygoing musical that offers some Wild West American-themed tricks to the stage, and some nifty shooting scenes.

At almost an hour and twenty minutes, the first act felt like it dragged towards the end. This section alone would benefit from editing and reducing it to an hour at least. The second act is shorter and just as much action takes place bringing the production to a neat finale. It does feel like an endurance test towards the end.
