Lois (Aimee Walker-Reid) is holding life together the best she can. Matt (Finlay Vane Last) has just buried his Dad and in the same week the couple are due to be married. Thus setting the scene for KINDRED.
Relationships are challenging at the best of times. However, the situation Lois and Matt find themselves in through no fault of their own seems incredibly unfair. Yet, somehow Lois finds the strength to try and desperately to hold it together.

With a running time of just over 60 minutes, the play projects the audience through a range of emotions. From grief, and frustration to anger. Lois tries desperately to continue working the week before the wedding while helping Matt deal with his crippling anxiety which is preventing him from leaving the house.
To the right of the stage a daily calendar changes between the past and the present. Giving the audience a sense of the passage of time and seeing how the couple were when they first met and before the devastating life-changing events took place. These changes are smooth and help the audience to follow the couple’s relationship timeline.

Every detail on and above the stage represents the chaotic situation the couple are going through. Everyday domestic item are placed in unexpected areas. It’s worth taking a few minutes to have a good look around the stage.
The close working relationship between the actors and the trust that they have in each other when the relationship is tested to the ultimate point and things become physical is superb. Together they give very strong believable performances.
