Thornden School Theatre Hall played host For One Night Only to the Winchester Theatre Company Blue Apple special assignments company. The actors involved all have various learning disabilities and acting skills. Yet come together to perform and support one another on the stage.
The performances during the hour-and-a-half show were a showcase offering a cross-section of entertainment showing the audience everything that performers with disabilities have a vast range of abilities to offer to the art world and are too often overlooked.
Associate Director Rebecca Godden curated One Night Only offering a flavour of what Blue Apple does across Hampshire and beyond. There were performances during the evening by QE2 Theatre, Chestnut Theatre, and Hanger Farm Community Theatre. Much to my shame, I had no idea about the other groups who perform locally.
The evening ended with a taster from Blue Apple’s upcoming production The Wind in the Willows which will be performed on June 26th and 27th in Theatre Royal Winchester. Although all the performances during the evening were good the standard presented by Blue Apple is superb. The entire creative team behind them work exceptionally hard.
If you know any adults who fit the Blue Apple performer criteria please do get in touch with them. You would most certainly be given a warm reception by the group.
