What a choir of incredibly talented musicians and all-round entertainers in the outstanding production The Choir of Man. The group gather in the pub to drink, chat and socialise in their safe space. Mobile phones are actively discouraged and the dying art of conversation is encouraged.
The pub which the choir refer to frequently as “home” and “The Jungle” offers the men solace and a place to be among friends. Where troubles can be left at the door and they feel safe to be themselves.

You meet locals from tap dancing handyman Ben Goffe, The Bore (alledgedly) Andrew J Carter, The Romantic Luke Conner Hall and the Barman for the evening Niall Woodson along with many others. Who all have their reasons for being part of the pub’s clientele.
There are pints distributed to some of the audience throughout the performance as the cast actively encourages the audience to join in with some of the songs and feel welcomed into their pub. The intimacy of The Arts Theatre venue adds to the atmosphere of the night’s excellent entertainment.

Overall this is an excellent Theatre experience which takes the time to explore men’s mental health and highlights that depression and mental health issues can affect anyone, more importantly, it tries to reach out and show that whatever you are experiencing, you are not alone so please reach out for support.
Starting life at the Edinburgh Fringe the production has grown and expanded now across the world. Offering a fantastic feel-good night at the Theatre. If you fancy experiencing what it feels like to be on stage you are welcome to buy a pint onstage before the performance begins.
