The ultimate Christmas show is now performing in the heart of Leicester Square, London. La Clique is back in its custom-built Spiegeltent. Billed as “sexy and sassy” it certainly lives up to this claim.

The fabulous cabaret sensation Chastity Belt delivers several well-known songs as she takes to the stage. Entertaining the audience and scouring the rows to find those who she can share banter and harmless flirtatious gestures with. Especially when she performed “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” the jewels kept appearing from various places in her costume.

The novelty performance by Tara Bloom as she plugs herself into the mains for the popcorn maker positioned on top of her head is something new to me. As the popcorn begins to flow from the machine the tempo rises while the outstanding performer swirls the hoola-hoops around herself, I lost count at the end of how many she used. The skill and precision she possesses leave audiences in awe. Just wait for the umbrellas to appear later on.

However, my favourite performances were by the talented puppeteers André-Anne Leblanc and Alexandra Iannuzzi from Montreal’s Cabaret Decadanse who brought to life the wonderful Cabaret artists. Their bodies entwined with the puppets which left the audience unsure of where the performers and puppets began and ended. Each set of costumes blended with excellent precision.

This year’s La Clique has raised the bar to another level of skilled circus act performances and offers something to entertain adults. Each mini show is short enough that if you are not enjoying it the next one comes along quickly. If like me you enjoy all of them the delivery is perfectly timed.
