Strangers Tori (Olivia Gosling) and James (Jack Gray) break the unspoken code for travelling on the London Underground and spark up a proper conversation. COCKFOSTERS combines comedy and a few surreal conversations along their Tube journey.

The stage is set out in the style of one-half of a tube carriage complete with the Piccadilly Line route map above the seats. Watch out for the loud announcements. The only difference is that the ones in the play are clear and audible.

Characters come and go along the route from noisy Arsenal football supporters, loud American tourists, and a surprise visit by the Grim Reaper. Just as any tube traveller would encounter except the final one.

Additional passengers who are not included during scenes can be recognised as they are all reading the same book “The Spare”! Which adds a touch of visual comedy to the production.

The humour changes throughout the hour-long performance as the relationship between Tori and James develops as they travel homeward bound to Cockfosters with additional passengers joining in their conversations.

Tom Woffenden and Hamish Clayton clearly understand their subject and how fast the dynamics change on a Tube journey. For anyone who travels on it will recognise at least one or two of the featured character types who appear along the way.
