Art is subjective. What one person can look at as an art piece another looks at a line of washing! Ash created the knickers line piece in her kitchen during a creative mood and it’s displayed with pride in Kitchen Underwear.

Ash and Zee become flatmates in the heart of Edinburgh and learn how to navigate their way through the grind of domestic life during their early twenties when life should be carefree and fun. Although Zee doesn’t share Ash’s opinion on the kitchen underwear art installation, the couple get along until Ash starts seeing someone.

Told through significant dates from the pairs diary entries which is mapping out a timeline of their relationship, Developing over time into something a bit more than friendship.

The set is an excellent use of recycled materials. The main kitchen units, kettle and fridge/freezer are created out of cardboard with utensils identity drawn onto them to create a fully functional kitchen. The mugs they use are also made from cardboard along with the mobile phones. Such a simple idea yet strikingly effective, one of the best sets I have seen this year at Edinburgh.

However, its not a happy ever after in a traditional sense where they ride off into the sunset together. Only one does as they follow their dream and not their romantic ideals. An ending much more in keeping with the modern world.
