INTERNAL by Tania Tuusa tells the story of shy 20-year-old Melanie. Trapped in her self-doubt and internal self-deprecating monologue. Where she doesn’t believe she is worthy of love or being in love.
The internal monologue can cause so much damage to somebody if they have listened to all the wrong messages over the years and the abandonment by her father has added weight to these feelings of unworthiness.
When her father returns to life after almost her entire childhood wanting to make commands he turns away and soon after passes away She unrelentlessly blames herself Which is unjustified as there is no way she is responsible for his behaviour as an adult.
A burlesque and spoken word performance brings to life Melanie’s imagination where she transports herself onto the stage as a beautiful and confident burlesque Dancer releasing herself from the everyday burdens that overwhelmed her thoughts.
An interesting 45-minute performance with scope for development.
