Breed or Bust by award-winning writer Joyful Raven opens her heart to explain her own life choices about whether to “Breed or not to breed”! In this heartfelt autobiographical performance.

Ravens performance touches on the current issues taking place in some of the States in America where some women are not in a fortunate position to have the rights over what happens to their bodies. Although this isn’t a political performance.

Raven also gives an insight into what it’s like being brought up in a commune-style community. Friendships with sisters from another Mother continued into adulthood and becoming a weird Auntie, a role Raven relishes.

The performance isn’t an easy one to listen to at times with some very tough decisions and tough choices being taken for the right reasons at the time. Although many women will have faced this it is rare to hear the issues spoken about.

However, storytelling is brash and brazen with an abundance of charisma. If you needed a friend in your time of need Raven would be the friend of choice. She has lived, loved and most importantly understands that life choices are exceptionally difficult, especially faced alone.

It is never straightforward reviewing a piece so touching and honest in order to give the writing and performance the credit it deserves for such a difficult decision.
