Callum Patrick Hughes leads you through a very personal and intimate journey about tragedy, love, and loss in his one-man show THIRST. Using his love for music, guitar, and engaging storytelling abilities to share his story with you.
Opening up to audiences about how his drinking habits went unrecognised by him yet family and friends quietly nagged him from the side to consider reducing what he drinks. He abruptly faced death head on and decisions are taken swiftly not to become an “alcoholic statistic” and lose his life from the condition.
His relaxed and charming personality warms you to him immediately. He has boyish good looks and a cheeky smile, I bet as a child he got away with a few things with a flash of that smile. You don’t want him to have suffered and as he opened up to reveal deep dark memories and honest uncomfortable realisations about his life I also came away with a deep respect for him too.
Describing his life growing up with a Father working in the Theatre and the paths of many famous people crossing his this isn’t a life many of us can relate to. He isn’t name-dropping to impress the audience, as he suffered from imposter syndrome much of the time. I felt he simply wanted you to understand how surreal it was for him to be among it all and not know any different.
Especially when he explains how he met and then shared a New Year’s Eve kiss with Felicity Kendall!
Verbatim performances are often the hardest to do for an artist. Through THIRST I hope his honesty might reach others in the audience in a similar situation and that they seek the help they deserve.
