Six friends/students are preparing to celebrate Burns night together, potentially their last one as a group. Crash and Burns certainly live up to the title as relationships collide, revelations are in abundance and the meal prepared is going cold.
Crash and Burns offers a humorous take on the challenges and changes faced by graduating students who are about to embark on the next chapter of their lives and potentially facing the break up of relationships as Fiona is considering moving to America and hasn’t informed her (ex) girlfriend Phoebe yet, although Phoebe is under the impression they have split up!
Questions are asked as to why Burns Night is celebrated for a man who died at 37 and had ten children. Right at the beginning although the question is never answered during the play.
Prepare for some twists as the story progresses each of the cast brings their insecurities and drama to the dinner party. You never quite know what goes on behind someone’s front door.
The company could benefit from shortening the time between the dramatic scene changes as currently these are too long and lose the desired impact. Overall it’s a fun way to spend an hour at the Fringe in the afternoon.
